Unions report progress in talks with NWC
The unions representing workers at the National Water Commission (NWC) are reporting that progress has been made so far, in discussions about the reclassification exercise and compensation review.
Several meetings were held this week, after a notice of industrial action was issued on the NWC, last Friday.
More meetings will be held next week, at the labour ministry, as the parties seek to resolve the dispute.
One of the 5 unions representing the NWC staff is the National Workers Union (NWU).
General Secretary Granville Valentine said following another round of meetings today, significant progress has been made.
He expressed hope that by next Tuesday, the trade unions and the water company can sign off on an agreement.
