U17 Reggae Boyz face must win game against Liga Premier at Torneo del Sol

The national Under 17 Reggae Boyz, needing a win to boost their hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals, will on Wednesday face Seleccion Liga Premier in their third and final game of the group stage at the Torneo del Sol, which is being hosted by the Mexican Football Federation in Toluca.

The young Jamaicans, who have been drawn in Group C, are on tied on three points with Seleccion norte with both teams compiling a win and a loss in their first two outings.

They opened their campaign on Monday with a 3-2 win against Bajio Seleccion thanks to a brace by Semour Reid, but suffered a 2-0 setback against Seleccion Norte who defeated Bajio but lost to Liga Premier.

The result means both teams are tied on points and goal difference but the U17 Reggae Boyz hold the advantage by virtue of a greater number of goals scored.

The undefeated Liga premier leads the Group C standings on maximum 6 points from 2 games, they registered a 3-0 triumph over Norte in their opener followed by a 2-0 win against Bajio on Tuesday.

The encounter scheduled to start at 1:30pm Jamaica time.

The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals, which will be played on Thursday. The semifinals are scheduled for Friday with the final to take place on Saturday.

As well as Jamaica, the Torneo del Sol is being used by the national U17 teams of Mexico, Panama and Guatemala to finalize their preparations for the upcoming Concacaf Under 17 Qualifiers which is set to begin in Guatemala in February.
