U.S Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrives in Jamaica
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio are holding bi-lateral talks today.
Mr. Rubio arrived in the island this morning.
The visit will include official discussions aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between Jamaica and the U.S.
In a post to X before his arrival this morning, Mr. Rubio said he was on his way to the island to meet with Caribbean partners to strengthen security and counter trans-national crime.
He said the countries will work together to crack down on illegal immigration, violence, and contraband in the region, and hold accountable those who perpetrate financial fraud against vulnerable Americans.
Following the bilateral discussions, a press conference will be held this afternoon.
This will provide an opportunity for the media to hear directly from both leaders about the outcomes of their talks.
Mr. Rubio will also visit Guyana and Suriname this week.
