Young Reggae Boyz squad named for Concacaf U-17 Qualifiers

A twenty-one man Under-17 Reggae Boyz squad that features a mix of local and overseas-based talent has been named for the Concacaf Under-17 Qualifiers.

The tournament, scheduled to begin on February 7, 2025, will take place across multiple countries, including Bermuda, Costa Rica and Mexico with Jamaica’s matches scheduled to be played in Guatemala. Additional host nations include Honduras and Panama.

Jamaica, drawn in Group H, will begin their qualification campaign on February 10 against St. Lucia, followed by matches against Cayman Islands on February 12 and El Salvador on February 15.

The young Reggae Boyz, who depart for Guatemala on February 8, have previously qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup on two occasions, in 1999 and 2011.

The squad comprises Goalkeepers: Justin Murray (Glenmuir High & Chapelton Maroons), Johnoi Steadman (St. Elizabeth Technical High), and Dhamar Blair (Manning’s High & Reno FC).

Defenders: Cai-Anthony McLean (Inter Miami CF Academy), Kieran Smith (New York City FC Academy), Jabar Johnson (New York City FC Academy), Zienodean McLean (Rush Select Academy), Jaquan Brown (Portmore United), Damarley Williams (Excelsior High & Cavalier SC), Alexander White (Sigma FC).

Midfielders: Giovanni Taylor (Jamaica College & Arnett Gardens FC), Raequan Campbell-Dennis (Bolts High Performance), Owen Jumpp (Mount Pleasant Academy), Ayden McFarlane (Getafe Int’l Madrid Football Academy), Dario White (Portland Timbers Academy, Earl Dennis (Mount Pleasant Academy).

Forwards: Cadriano Marsh (Inter Miami CF Academy), Orel Miller (Glenmuir High & Chapelton Maroons), and Seymour Garfield Reid (New York City FC Academy), Axel Grimaud (Orlando City FC Academy), Jahmarie Nolan (Mount Pleasant Academy).

Head coach Altimont ‘Freddie’ Butler has expressed confidence in his team’s preparation, stating, “We’ve worked tirelessly over the past months to prepare this group of players for the challenges ahead. Competing in the CONCACAF U-17 Qualifiers is a tremendous honor, and we are focused on securing qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The boys are motivated, talented, and ready to give their all for Jamaica. I have no doubt they will make the nation proud.”

The Concacaf U-17 Qualifiers, which features 35 teams across eight groups, will determine the teams that will qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, scheduled for November 5-27, 2025.
