Two police divisions report success, including reduction in murders, following recent declaration of SOEs

Two commanding officers are reporting success, including a reduction in murders following the declaration of states of public emergency in their police divisions.

Speaking with IRIE FM News this afternoon, Head of St. Catherine South, Acting Senior Superintendent Leighton Grey said his team yielded positive results during the enhanced measures.

He noted that there was no incident of murder and the division only recorded two shootings.

Acting SSP Grey noted that the majority of residents understood the need for the enhanced measures and were willing to cooperate with the police.

Meanwhile, Commanding Officer for St. Andrew South, Damion Manderson also reported a significant decline in murders.

SSP Manderson explained that during the imposition of the state of emergency, it allowed lawmen the space to execute operational activities, among other measures.
