Two people die in motor vehicle crash in St. Elizabeth
Two people died as a result of injuries they sustained in a motor vehicle crash on the Hodges main road in St. Elizabeth on Saturday.
Dead are Gary Berry, a resident of Crawford, and Andrea Walters, a resident of Brompton, both in St. Elizabeth.
Reports are that at about 12:05 PM, Berry was driving his motorcycle towards Black River.
A Toyota Voxy being operated as a taxi reportedly veered into his path as it tried to enter the Hodges sub-division.
The motorcycle crashed into the side of the taxi before bursting into flames.
Berry and Walters, who was a passenger in the taxi, were rushed to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The driver of the taxi has been warned for prosecution.
Berry’s brother, Courtney Berry, said his sibling was going to withdraw his pay at an ABM in Black River when the crash happened.
Meantime, Berry’s cousin Godfrey Cameron described his relative as a hard worker.
At least 25 people have been killed in crashes since the start of the year.
