Two men died in separate motor vehicle crashes in Clarendon and St. Thomas yesterday.
The deceased are 30-year-old Shaquille Campbell, a carpenter of McGilchrist, Toll Gate in Clarendon and 29-year-old Rajaye Afflick of Curtis Bottom, Port Morant in St. Thomas.
In the latest incident, at around 11:40 P.M., Afflick was driving a grey Toyota Corolla motor car along the Lyssons main road, when he attempted to overtake another vehicle.
The Corolla hit a Toyota Wish motor car.
Afflick reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete embankment.
He sustained injuries and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In the other incident, reports are that around 7:50 P.M. Campbell was driving a motor car towards Lionel Town.
On reaching a section of the road way, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it veered to the side of the road, then crashed into a tree.
The vehicle burst into flames with Campbell still inside.
Campbell was later taken from the vehicle and rushed to hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.
According to the Road Safety Unit, 185 peeople have died in road crashes since January, in comparison to 226 in the similar period last year.
