Two persons have been detained in relation to a 40 million dollar ganja bust offshore Westmoreland yesterday.

The Jamaica Defence Force, JDF said through a coordinated operation, a coast guard team intercepted a vessel transporting the contraband. 

It said thirty-seven bags of marijuana weighing, 663 pounds, were seized during the interdiction. 

The JDF says it remains committed to utilizing air and maritime assets to counter illicit trafficking, protecting Jamaica’s borders and safeguarding the blue economy.

It is also urging all seafarers to use Jamaica’s maritime spaces in accordance with the law and to report illegal activities to the JDF.
