Two police officers are to return to court next month on assault charges stemming from an incident in St. Thomas over four years ago.
They are Corporals Courtney Lewis and Marlon Shaw.
Both Corporals appeared before the St. Thomas Parish Court yesterday after they were charged in relation to the incident which happened on December 31, 2020, in Heartease District in Yallahs.
It is alleged that the officers used excessive force during the arrest, which resulted in facial injuries to the complainant.
Following a probe by the Independent Commission of Investigations, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions ruled that the corporals should be charged.
Corporal Shaw was charged with unlawful wounding, while Courtney Lewis was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
They were bound over for the next court date on June 4.
