Two charged for illegal gun in Cherry Tree Lane Clarendon, yesterday

Two men arrested during the curfew imposed on the Four Paths community in Clarendon have been slapped with gun-related charges 

The Clarendon police charged them with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

Charged are 24-year-old Devonte Jackson, a construction worker from Cherry Tree Lane and 22-year-old Rick Edwards, a farmer from Lawson Boulevard, both of Four Paths in the parish.

Reports from the May Pen Police are that a team was conducting a joint police-military operation in the area yesterday when two persons on motorcycles were observed entering the community. 

They were stopped and Jackson reportedly ran.

A chased ensued and he was caught by lawmen.

A black and grey Louis Vuitton cross bag was retrieved from Jackson.

It was searched by police and a black Taurus 9mm pistol and a magazine with twelve 9mm rounds was allegedly found in the bag.

Police say he then informed that that he was given the bag by Edwards who denied such claims.

Both were arrested and charged.

Their court date is being arranged.
