Troy Bridge expected to be completed by December

Construction works on the Troy Bridge on the Trelawny/Manchester border are expected to be completed by December.

Minister with responsibility for works Robert Morgan said major infrastructure works are about 85% complete.

He made the announcement during a tour of the Bridge yesterday.

Morgan said the bridge is a symbol of governments commitment to the continued modernization and development of Jamaica.

Meantime, Mayor of Falmouth Colin Gager indicated that completion of the new bridge will bring relief to residents and motorists.

This against the background that the collapse of the bridge 4 years ago led to hardships for residents who needed to travel between Manchester and Trelawny.

Construction of the new bridge began last year and followed the collapse of the previous structure during the passage of Tropical Storm Grace in August 2021.

Two hundred and thirty one million dollars was budgeted for the Troy Bridge project and it’s expected that the work will be completed within budget.

Road rehabilitation works on both sides of the new bridge are set to begin next January further enhancing access for residents, students, and businesses.
