Tropical storm warning discontinued
The tropical storm warning for Jamaica has been discontinued.
The Met Service says it ended at noon.
A flash flood warning is now in effect for southern parishes, while a flash flood watch is in effect for the rest of the island.
Both the watch and warning remain in effect until 5:00 P.M. today.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible, while a flash flood warning means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly.
According to the latest Met Service bulletin, the center of Tropical Storm Rafael continues to move away from the western coast of Jamaica.
However, as the system gets better organized, rain bands are expected to continue impacting conditions across the island today.
At 10:00 A.M., the center of Tropical Storm Rafael was located about 105 kilometers southwest of Montego Bay and 65 kilometers west-southwest of Negril Point.
Rafael is forecast to continue moving away from Jamaica today, be near the Cayman Islands this evening, and be near or over western Cuba on Wednesday.
