Tributes pour in for Determine following his passing

Beenie Man, Sizzla, Spragga Benz, and UK-based producer Jazzwad are among those paying tribute to Determine following his passing.

Renowned for his iconic Nyabinghi hit Kette Drum with Dancehall star Beenie Man, Determine died in the hospital on Thursday after a battle with cancer. He was 52.

Beenie Man took to Instagram to share an interview of Determine discussing the making of their iconic collaboration. He accompanied the post with a heartfelt caption:

“Mi heart heavy fi di loss of one of our kings. Determine, we created some of di biggest tunes inna Dancehall history together, and yuh music will neva fade. Yuh spirit live on inna di music and di hearts of di people.”

He continued, “Rest easy, king. Yuh legacy a go shine bright like di sun. One love to di family and all who feel di loss. Jah guide yuh home.”

Sizzla shared a photo of them on stage, writing, “Determine mi bredda, sad day for us jah jah know. RIP to the great legend.”

Spragga Benz posted, “Jah guide mi bredda… Jah guide,” while Jazzwad shared a slideshow, including a hospital photo, with messages of R.I.P and condolences.

Born Rohan Bennett in Annotto Bay, St. Mary, Determine is best remembered for Kette Drum, the 1995 Nyabinghi anthem produced by Bobby Digital. He was also the father of entertainer Runkus.
