Travellers urged to leave/enter Jamaica by today; NMIA will close this evening, decision pending for Sangster’s
Travellers who plan to leave or enter Jamaica are being advised to do so today as the country’s airports prepare for the impending Tropical Storm Melissa.
Providing an update at Jamaica House this morning, Transport Minister Daryl Vaz noted that the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston will close today after the arrival of its last scheduled flight.
That flight is slated to arrive at 8 PM.
In the meantime, Minister Vaz said further discussions with Sangster’s management will take place later in the afternoon to assess the weather and decide the appropriate next steps regarding closure.
