Transport Minister Daryl Vaz is urging all parents to register their child or ward for the Student Transport Card to be used on the Rural School Buses next month.

This, as the fare collection system remains on schedule for rollout on November 1, 2025.

Since September 8, students have been able to travel freely on the school buses. However, Mr Vaz noted that starting next month, no child will be able to benefit from the service without a card.

Mr. Vaz added that testing of the Electronic Fare System will begin on Monday, October 13.

The Minister also noted that as of Monday, October 27, registered students and parents will be able to top up the cards at retail outlets across Jamaica, similar to those used to top up credit for mobile phones.
