Transport group TODSS to make application to JUTC for fare increase this week
The Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services (TODSS) says it will be making an application to the management of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), this week, for a fare increase.
TODSS President Egeton Newman, says this request for an increase is on behalf of the over 300 operators, who function under the JUTC sub-franchise system.
Mr. Newman says TODSS is requesting an increase of 50 per cent, which could see commuters paying $180 for the ride, which is now officially $120.
Mr. Newman added that an application will also be made for an overall fare increase for the island’s public transport operators, when TODSS Fare Increase and Investment Management Board meets in Kingston, today.
