TransJamaican Highway Limited donates $100M to help hurricane victims rebuild homes

TransJamaican Highway Limited (TJH) has approved a $100 million donation to support victims of Hurricane Melissa.

The company’s board of directors approved the donation.

TJH which is the operator of TransJam Highways, formerly Highway 2000 East-West says it will provide building materials including zinc, lumber, hurricane straps, and nails to more than 2,000 homeowners whose properties were damaged by the storm.

The company’s Managing Director Ivan Anderson says TJH is collaborating with one of the island’s largest hardware retailers to get the assistance directly to the affected individuals in St. Elizabeth and other hard-hit parishes.

TJH expects to finalize arrangements with government stakeholders shortly, with distribution of the items targeted to take place within the next two to three weeks.

Additionally, the company’s employees have launched an internal relief drive, contributing essential supplies such as non-perishable food, water, clothing, toiletries, and baby items.
