Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) Superintendent Lloyd Darby is calling on motorists to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained before traversing the island’s roadways.

His comment, is in light of two motor vehicle crashes in St. Ann and Kingston between Monday and yesterday in which 8 persons were injured.

The latest incident occurred in the vicinity of Royal Palm Estate between Runaway Bay and Brown’s Town in St. Ann yesterday.

It’s reported that the vehicle developed mechanical issues which resulted in the crash.

On Monday, the brake system on a motor truck failed resulting in a crash, along Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston.

Three women were injured in that incident.

Superintendent Darby said when the brake failed, the driver of the motor truck, reportedly swerved, to avoid hitting a Honda CRV and overturned on the vehicle in which the women were travelling.

He said the incidents reiterate the need to have all vehicles properly maintained before being driven.
