Tourism Ministry says progress continues to be made in negotiations related to compensation of hotel workers

Senior Communication Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism Delano Seiveright says progress continues to be made as it relates to compensation of hotel workers.

The comment comes in light of recent protests by hotel workers about compensation and better working conditions.

Speaking to IRIE FM News this morning, Mr. Seiveright said this follows behind the scene discussions led by the ministry of tourism and other stakeholders with local and international industry players.

He said so far the ministry has seen salary improvements, enhanced allowances among other things.

He said importantly, the ministry is seeing improvement in communication between staff and management which is most critical, as a number of the protests were triggered by poor management.

He said improvements have also been seen in human resource management and better understanding by industry players of the customs and culture of the Jamaican society.
