Top stars ready to shine at Racers Grand Prix
The reigning world double sprint champion Noah Lyles, the olympic champion Hansle Parchment, and Olympic mile relay gold meddalist Stephanie Ann M,cpherson are among the stars listed to compete at the sixth staging of the Racers Grand Prix at the National Stadium tomorrow.
The Racers Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour silver event sees the 26-year-old Lyles leading a star studded field in the men’s 100 metres, which includes Jamaica’s rising star Oblique Seville , British sprinter Zharnel Hughes and Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala .
In the women’s 100 metres equivalent, the reigning world indoor 60metres champion Julien Alfred will square off with national junior record holder Alana Reid and Romana Burchell .
Over in the men’s 110 hurdles Commonwealth Games champion Rasheed Broadbell, who’s also the national champion, faces the reigning Olympic champion Parchment in what should be a cracking men’s sprint hurdles showdown.
Mcpherson will compete in an impressive 400metres field which includes the red hot Stacey-Ann Williams, Candice Mcleod and Cherokee Young.
Meanwhile, the men’s long jump is the first event on the programme at 7;10, and will feature the 2019 World and national champion Tajay Gayle, who will be up against compatriot Carey Mcleod.
Other top names down to compete at the meet include the talented World Junior 400m record holder Roshawn Clarke, World 400m champion Antonio Watson, Megan Tapper, Abby Steiner , Champion Allison, the 60metres hurdles World record holder Devyne Charlton along with Ackera Nugent.
