Top seed Iga Swiatek in tough draw at Wimbledon 2024

Top seed Iga Swiatek will have to navigate a potentially difficult side of the draw if she is to win her maiden women’s singles title at Wimbledon.

This as the world number one was was handed a tricky first-round test against American Sofia Kenin….the 2020 Australian open Champion….and is also on the same side of bracket as reigning champion Marketa Vondrousova.

Women’s second seed Coco Gauff meanwhile, will play in an all-american first-round tie against Caroline Dolehide while third seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, who Gauff could face in the semi-finals, takes on the American Emina Bektas.

Other notable first-round draws in the women’s singles include a clash of Grand Slam champions as Victoria Azarenka face Sloane Stephens while British wildcard Emma Raducanu, the 2021 U.S. Open champion, is up against Russian 22nd seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.

On the men’s side Carlos Alcaraz begins his title defence against Mark Lajal of Estonia, top seed jannik sinner is down to meet Yannick Hanfmann of Germany, while seven-time champion Novak Djokovic, who appears to have recovered sufficiently from knee surgery, is the second seed and opens against Czech qualifier Vit Kopriva.
