TODSS urges Gov’t to clarify student use of public transport under Rural School Bus Programme
By: Georgetta Williams
One transport group is calling on the Government to address concerns about use of public transport by students, with the introduction of the Rural School Bus Programme.
President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services (TODSS), Egeton Newman says some students are of the view that the Government says, they should not take public transportation.
The Rural School Bus Programme rolled out officially on Monday, with buses deployed islandwide and more expected to be added to the service in coming months.
Speaking with IRIE FM News Mr. Newman says while the public transport sector accepts the bus system, he believes the Government should speak to both programmes working together in the interest of an enhanced school transportation system.
Mr. Newman says the public operators will continue to work alongside the rural school bus system.
