Today is nomination day for NE St. Ann by-election

Today is nomination day for the by-election in the North East St. Ann.

Jamaica Labour Party candidate Matthew Samuda will be nominated at 1 P.M.

The People’s National Party has indicated it will not be contesting the by-election.

It is not yet known if an independent candidate will be nominated.

Nomination will take place between 10 A.M. and 2 P.M.

Meanwhile, motorists in St. Ann’s Bay, St Ann will see some traffic changes along eight major roadways today to facilitate nomination day activities.

The changes will take effect at 8 A.M., and remain in place until 4 P.M.

The roadways to be affected include, Park Avenue, Main Street, Bravo Street, Bravo Hill, Royes Street, King Street, Marcus Garvey Way, Church Street, in the vicinity of the Anglican Church, in the vicinity of the Rubis gas station and Harbour Street.

Head of the St. Ann Police Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell says officers will be deployed to manage the traffic and guide motorists.
