Tiktok users fuel global comeback for Brick & Lace’s Love is Wicked
19 years after its release, Brick & Lace’s global hit Love is Wicked has experienced a resurgence in popularity, fueled by the power of social media.
The song’s unforgettable chorus and relatable lyrics have sparked a viral trend online, with Jamaicans and international users alike incorporating the sound into memes and dance.
The renewed interest in the song gained momentum after several TikTok creators began using the track as the soundtrack for videos highlighting failed relationships, shocking breakups and humorous dating experiences.
Love is Wicked, recorded on Lenky Marsden’s infectious Diwali rhythm, was released in 2007 on Akon’s Kon Live distribution label. To date the track has racked up 220 million views on YouTube.
Brick and lace will be performing live at the Helsinki city festival on June 12 in Finland.
