Three women charged with murder of Digicel employee Kevin Walker
The Kingston west police have charged 3 women with murder in relation to the death of missing Digicel employee Kevin Walker.
They are: 30-year-old Anita Vanzie of Mark Lane, Kingston; 29-year-old Shadae Bennett of Oxford Street, Kingston; and, 36-year- old Jo-anna Williams of Oxford Street, Kingston.
All 3 women are facing charges of murder, conspiracy to murder, simple larceny, being part of a criminal organisation, providing benefit to a criminal organisation, misprision of felony, accessory before the fact, accessory after the fact, and preventing the lawful burial of a corpse.
The charges stem from the killing of 42-year-old Walker of Antrim Road, Vineyard Town, in Kingston, last month.
Reports from the Denham Town police are that on Saturday, February 1, Walker was invited by Vanzie to Oxford Street, where he was accosted and taken to a premise by four men, who robbed him of his credit and debit cards.
Vanzie and Bennett reportedly proceeded to make a cash withdrawal, at a nearby automated teller machine, after which they returned and shared up the cash.
The men reportedly proceeded to beat Walker and used a knife to inflict multiple stab wounds to his upper body.
Later that day, the men and women reportedly put Walker’s body in a blue barrel, then disposed of it in a gully on Industrial Terrace, in Kingston.
The following day (Sunday, February 2), a missing person report was filed for Walker, and an investigation was launched.
On Monday, February 3, the police were alerted to the discovery of a man’s body inside a barrel, along industrial terrace.
Officers who responded, retrieved the body, and transported it to the hospital, where death was confirmed.
Further investigation, including a DNA test, led to the identification of the body as being that of Walker.
On Wednesday, February 5, the police, acting on information, carried out a targeted raid, at a premises on Mark Lane, in Kingston.
Police said Vanzie was seen at the premises and was accosted and searched.
She was found to be in possession of a credit card belonging to Walker.
Some days later, Bennett and Williams were apprehended on Oxford Street, in Kingston.
All three women were charged after being questioned in the presence of their attorneys.
A court date is being finalised.
