Three of 9 inmates who escaped Constant Spring Lock-up yesterday recaptured

Two more of the nine men who escaped from the Constant Spring Police lock-up in St. Andrew yesterday, have been recaptured, bringing the total number of escapees back in custody to three.

The latest to be apprehended are 19-year-old Richard Bishop of Olympic Way, Kingston, who was charged with burglary and larceny; and 23-year-old Talik Chambers of Burlington Avenue, Kingston 10 who was charged with identity theft.

45-year-old David Rhoden of Malvern Avenue in Kingston was the first to be recaptured shortly after escaping, yesterday.

Six men remain at large.

They are 25-year-old Kamal Kelly of Mannings Hill District in Stony Hill, who was charged with shooting with intent; 18-year-old Fray Messias of Pinto, Stony Hill, who was charged with rape; and 19-year-old Alunzo Espute of Cassava Piece, St. Andrew, who was charged with murder by stabbing.

Also still on the run are 26-year-old Junior Anthony Barnes of Iron River, Stony Hill, who was charged with possession of a weapon and ammunition; 25-year-old Dorique Douglas of Oxford Street, who was charged with wounding with intent, shooting with intent, and malicious destruction of property; and 26-year-old Brandon Ennis of Belvedere, Red Hills, St. Andrew, who was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

The men escaped the lock-up, after reportedly cutting through a grill and a metal door.

The breach was discovered during routine checks by the police.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says it is treating the matter with the highest level of urgency and that all available resources have been deployed island-wide to facilitate the swift recapture of the remaining escapees.

Lawmen are appealing to members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of the escapees to contact the Constant Spring Police at 876-924-1421, the police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.

The public is also being reminded that it is a criminal offence to harbour fugitives.
