Three killed in motor vehicle crash along Marescaux Road in Kingston early this morning
Three people were killed in a motor vehicle crash along Marescaux Road near the Mico University College in Kingston early this morning.
Dead are 19-year-old Dante Francis and 26-year-old Tavaugn Miller both of Regent Street in Kingston and 33-year-old Andre Wright of Anderson Road Kingston.
Police say at about 1:45 AM, a Nissan motorcar with seven occupants was being driven along the roadway.
The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an embankment, causing the car to burst into flames.
All seven occupants were taken to the hospital where Wright, Miller and Francis were pronounced dead.
Four others are being treated.
Vice-Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones described the incident as a tragedy.
He said this morning’s crash has brought the country’s road death toll since January 1 to 47.
17 of those deaths occurred this month.
Dr. Jones noted that while the police have increased road safety efforts, motorists must manage their road practices.
