Three Jamaicans in West Indies squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

The Jamaican trio of Stafanie Taylor, Chadean Nation and Chinelle Henry have been named in the West Indies Women’s squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October.

The squad, led by Captain Hayley Matthews, features a mix of experienced players and promising talent and is highlighted by the return of Deandra Dottin who came out of retirement in July.

Completing the 15-member team are Mandy Mangru, Ashmini Munisar, Nerissa Crafton, Shamilia Connell, Afy Fletcher, Zaida James, Qiana Joseph and Karishma Ramharack.

Head coach Shane Deitz expressed confidence in the selected squad, stating,

“The players have shown great commitment and determination throughout our preparations. We are focused on executing our game plan and making the West Indies proud on the world stage.”

The West Indies have been placed in Group B along with Bangladesh, England, South Africa and Scotland. They open campaign on against South Africa on October 4.

The Tournament is set to take place from October 3-20 in the United Arab Emirates.
