The legendary Reggae Band Third World has joined forces with the ISSA Foundation, as Goodwill Reggae Ambassadors to raise funds to build a Health Center in St. Ann.

Cat Coore during an interview with IRIE FM’s Nicholas Evans at the launch of the Issa Trust Foundation ‘For The Children’ Charity Gala slated for New York, said he’s happy to be a part of an initiative to enrich the lives of children in Jamaica.

The Issa Trust Foundation is hoping to raise some USD$800,000 at its Children For Charity Gala in New York on November 12, that will go towards the Health Center which will offer paediatric and adolescent services in addition to specialty clinics, mental health support, vision, hearing tests along with primary care. The centre will also offer rotation programs for doctors to partner with local Jamaican doctors.—

The Issa Trust Foundation was established in 2005 by Couples Resorts as a non-profit organization. The mission of the Foundation is to provide a system of prevention, health promotion and education, community health improvement, and other services to promote well-being and development for the people of Jamaica.

In related news, Third World Band is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a string of festivities to mark the occasion next year.
