Theodore Whitmore makes stunning return as Mt Pleasant head coach after Harold Thomas dismissal
A new coach will be in charge of last season’s beaten Jamaica Premier League finalists Mount Pleasant when they engage Caribbean Club Shield winners Arnett Gardens in the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup at Sabina Park on Tuesday.
Reports are that Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore has been re-assigned as head coach of the St. Ann based team after Harold Thomas and his entire coaching staff were booted with immediate effect after being at the helm for just one game.
The shock decision, which takes place before the start of the 2024-25 JPL season, came after Mount Pleasant suffered a 2-0 defeat to national champions Cavalier on match day one in the Caribbean Cup on Tuesday.
Thomas who previously served as Director of Football at the Mount Pleasant Academy, took over as head coach in June after the Whitmore’s contract was not renewed after guiding the team to back-to-back JPL final appearances, winning in 2023 and losing on penalties in 2024.
Before joining the Mount Pleasant Academy, Thomas was previously in charge at Harbour View, Rivoli United, Benfica and Dunbeholden whom he guided to the 2022 final.
