The United States and Barbados congratulate PM elect Dr. Holness on the JLP’s victory

The United States has congratulated Prime Minister elect Dr. Andrew Holness on his victory in yesterday’s general election.
The Jamaica Labour Party won its third consecutive term in power after securing 34 seats, to the People’s National Party’s 29.
The Electoral Office of Jamaica is conducting the official recount of ballots today.
In a post on social media charge de affaires at the US Embassy in Jamaica, Scott Renner congratulated Dr. Holness and the JLP.
He said the USA’s partnership with Jamaica is rooted in shared values and strong people-to-people ties.
The US said it looks forward to working with the Andrew Holness led Government to promote regional security, prosperity, and opportunity for both nations.
And also congratulating Dr. Andrew Holness on his victory, is Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Mottley.
At midnight, Ms. Mottley took to her X account, to congratulate Dr. Holness.
She also noted that Barbados is looking forward to strengthening the relationship, it shares with Jamaica.
Ms. Mottley said she also anticipates that the two nations will work together through CARICOM to build a more prosperous region.
