The newly added Sara Newland-Martin trophy, added features to 2023 Annual Karl Dalhouse Swim meet
The newly added Sara Newland-Martin trophy, which will be presented to the winner of the 15 to 17 girls 100 meter breaststroke, is one of two added features to the 27th staging of the Annual Karl Dalhouse Memorial invitational swim meet.
The three-day event which is set to splash off next Friday at the National Aquatic Centre will run until Sunday, February 5, and will be hosted ‘Y Speedos Swim Club.
Approximately 400 swimmers from 8 local and 3 overseas clubs are set to participate.
Swimmers will compete for the coveted Karl Dalhouse trophies in their respective age groups and master’s division.
The winner of the 13-14 boys’s 200 metres breastroke will receive the Matthew Hylton Memorial trophy, in memory of the former Jamaica National and ‘y’ Speedos Swimmer who passed away in 2008.
Leanna Wainright, Zachary jackson-blaine, Zack-Andre Johnson, Richard Martin jr, Charles Mcintosh, Waldon Mcintosh, Kai Radcliffe, and Nathaniel Thomas are some of the top local swimmers to compete.
This is the first FINA-approved meet for the year in which swimmers can achieve qualifying standard times for this summer’s World Aquatics Championships in Japan.
