The Jamaica Kingsmen secures playoff spot in Caribbean Premier League

The  Jamaica  Kingsmen  have  qualified  for  the  playoffs  of  the  Republic  Bank  Caribbean  Premier  League  despite  losing  their  final  preliminary  round  game  by  two  wickets  against  the  Barbados  Tridents  on  Saturday  night.

The  Kingsmen  with  the  defeat  finished  in  the  fourth  and  final  playoff  spot   with  eight  points  as  the  teams  below  them  have  completed  their  preliminary   round  fixtures  which  means  the  Jamaica  Kingsmen  cannot  be  passed.

Meanwhile,  the  Barbados  Tridents   ended  in third  spot  on  12  points  after  completing   their  round  robin  matches – wrapping up a 6 wicket win over the Guyana Amazon Warriors last night ,  while  the  Antigua  and  Barbuda  Falcons  finished second  on  13  points. 

The  Guyana  Amazon  Warriors , meanwhile, finished  at  the   summit  of  the  standings  with  16  points despite losing their final preliminary round game last night. 

This  means  that  the  Jamaica  Kingsmen  will  play the  Barbados  Tridents  in  the  first  eliminator  game  on  Wednesday  September  16,  at  the  Kensington  Oval,  in  Barbados, while  in  the  first  qualifier  on  Thursday  September  17, the  Warriors  will  oppose  the  Falcons  also  at  the  Kensington  Oval.

The  final  is  slated  for  Sunday  September 20,  at  the  Kensington  Oval  in  Barbados.
