The Jamaica Athletics Invitational was a success – Bert Cameron
The inaugural staging of the Jamaica Athletics Invitational at the National Stadium on the weekend was a success and will go down as one of the best international meets on local soil.
That’s the assessment coming from former world 400 metre champion now turned coach Bert Cameron.
The meet….a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Event……attracted a number of international stars competing in 17 events and saw 7 Jamaican winners on the night, with the World Championships bronze medallist Rushell Clayton winning her pet event the women’s 400 metes hurdles in a world leading 53.72 seconds.
The event was also fairly supported from a spectator stand point while there was a surprise appearance by world 100 meter champion Sha’cari Richardson who was spotted in the bleachers.
Speaking with irie fm sports shortly after the event had concluded……Cameron said he was satisfied with what was an excellent first step.
