Teachers to receive remaining March salaries today
The Ministry of Education is reporting that teachers who had not received their March salaries up to last Thursday, should be paid today (April 11).
Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Maureen Dwyer gave the confirmation while speaking to Irie Fm news on Tuesday morning.
An advisory from the desk of the general secretary of the Jamaica Teacher’s Association on Saturday had noted that some teachers still had not received their March salaries and that some salaries were not accurate.
Mrs. Dwyer said while she cannot say if the money is in the accounts of the teachers, steps were taken to re-upload the salaries.
In the meantime, JTA President Lasonja Harrison told our news centre that she is to make an assessment on the situation, to find out if all teachers have indeed been paid.
She said the teachers are at their wits end, and she hopes that they will be paid in short order.
