Chairman of Shortwood Teachers’ College Grantley Stephenson has noted the importance of educators having soft skills and the institution’s role in ensuring trainee teachers have them.

Speaking at the College’s Anniversary celebration yesterday, Mr. Stephenson said these skills will help teachers engage with children who have social and emotional challenges.

He said teachers should be trained to be first responders in the classroom.
