Tax Administration Jamaica special arrears settlement programme has been extended to May 31.

Finance Minister Fayval Williams made the statement in parliament this afternoon.

The extension means that individuals and business persons still have an opportunity to maximise on TAJ’s offer to pay their principal liabilities that will result in corresponding percentage of interest, penalties and surcharges being waived.

Mrs. Williams said so far the programme has been successful, with over $10 b collected, as at yesterday.

She said additionally, the TAJ made over 30,000 calls to tax payers who had arrears.

Mrs. Williams said many of these taxpayers have expressed a willingness to make the payments.
