Tarrus Riley turns personal pain into lupus awareness message
Amid the global observance of Lupus Awareness Month, reggae singer Tarrus Riley is using his voice to shine a spotlight on the auto immune disease that affects millions of people worldwide.
In a video shared on social media, the Simple Blessings hitmaker revealed that he lost both a sister and an aunt to the autoimmune disease. Riley used the moment to encourage fans and followers to educate themselves about lupus and support those living with the illness.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues and organs, causing inflammation that can impact the skin, joints, kidneys, blood cells, heart, and lungs.
The month-long observation during May, under the theme, Make Lupus Visible seeks to raise awareness about the condition, promote early diagnosis, and advocate for improved treatment and support for patients.
