Dancehall artiste Ishawna is grieving the loss of her grandmother, Ms. Ruby, and took to social media to share her heartbreak.
In an emotional post, Ishawna shared a video compilation of her and her grandmother, set to the soulful sounds of Boys II Men’s timeless hit A Song for Mama. As a caption Ishawna wrote that her heart is shattered beyond repair, adding, ‘RIP to my beautiful grandmother,” accompanied by broken heart emojis.
While the cause of Ms. Ruby’s passing remains undisclosed, the outpouring of love and support from the dancehall community was immediate; with artistes Vybz Kartel, Pamputtae and artiste manager Skatta Burrel, offering condolences.
Vybz Kartel wrote a simple yet poignant message, “Jah Know,” accompanied by dove, broken heart, and praying hand emojis, Skatta Burrel’s comment, adorned with rose, dove, and heart emojis, added to the chorus of love and support, while Pamputtae sent condolences to Ishawna and family.
Ishawna credits her grandmother with helping to raise her. She often shares footage on social media showing the close relationship she enjoyed with her.
