Music enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend as the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Festival Song Competition heats up with the staging of the semi-final round on Saturday, May 10.
Slated for the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, this concert-style competition starts at 5pm, is free to the public and will feature talented live performers from across the island competing for a coveted spot in the top ten.
Since 1966, the Jamaica Festival Song Competition has been cemented in the landscape of Jamaican Music Culture and today is the longest running original song contest in the island.
The Competition has become a showground for aspiring artistes, songwriters and producers to showcase their talents and aims to identify a new and original song that is reflective of the spirit of the Jamaican people.
