Jah Cure thanks Vybz Kartel for support amidst ongoing legal battle

Reggae singer Jah Cure is expressing gratitude to dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel after Kartel called for his freedom on a social media live.

In a heartfelt gesture, Kartel hailed Jah Cure as the ‘baddest’ reggae singer alive and called for his freedom while vibing to several of the singer’s timeless hits singles, including Longing For, Never Find, and Unconditional Love.

Jah Cure’s official Instagram subsequently shared a snippet of Kartel’s live session, captioning it “Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without”… adding “Real recognize real, even the Worldboss knows. The best is yet to come. Thank you, my brother, for appreciating good music. #freedomisamust.”

Jah Cure, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, has been incarcerated in the Netherlands since 2021. In 2022 he was sentenced to six years in prison on a attempted manslaughter charge for stabbing Dutch concert promoter Nicardo ‘Papa’ Blake over unpaid performance fees in October 2021.

The trial judges had ruled that Jah Cure’s actions were not a premeditated act of attempted murder, and he was acquitted of the more serious charge. However, following the sentencing, Dutch prosecutors appealed against the acquittal of the attempted murder charge.

The singer’s legal battle is ongoing, with a hearing scheduled for June 18 at the Netherlands Court of Appeal.
