Verzuz, the online clash series made popular during the pandemic is back with its new home being social media platform X.
Co-Founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland made the announcement yesterday revealing that they have signed a new distribution partnership with the Elon Musk owned platform.
The development comes after they reacquired full ownership of the platform from Triller earlier this year.
Verzuz, launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, quickly gained popularity, during lockdown with the clash between Beenieman and Bounty Killer which streamed live from Kingston, being arguably the most exciting and spontaneous edition of the clash series.
During the activities dancehall fans saw Prime Minister Andrew Holness joining in on the excitement, taking to his official Twitter to declare “Jamaica’s culture is global” while sharing a screenshot of the action.
In keeping with national pride, the battle between the two legends opened with a rousing rendition of the Jamaican National Anthem and had 480,000 viewers on the live stream, it was later announced that 3.7 million people watched the show which had over one billion impressions registered across all platforms during the live event.
