Saturday night’s final show for the 2024 Jamaica Festival Song Competition held at the Jamaica College auditorium, saw Kimiela ‘Candy’ Isaacs’ becoming the sixth woman to emerge winner in the history of the competition.
The visually impaired musician and educator was one of six women from the ten finalists to make it to the final of this year’s competition and claimed the coveted title for her entry, “One Jamaica”, which was written by her and produced by Sidney Thorpe.
A regular competitor in performing arts and music competitions, Isaacs boasts an impressive sixty-five medals and trophies from her performances and compositions in JCDC Festival Competitions including a second-place finish in the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition in 2009 and being a finalist in the Jamaica Festival Song Competition in 2021.
She won two million dollars in prize money as the writer and performer while the producer won one million dollars.
