Multi-Grammy-winning Reggae entertainer Ziggy Marley is lending his voice and helping to raise international awareness to an ongoing fight to protect public access to Jamaican beaches.
In explaining his plight, Ziggy Marley shared with his over 1.4 million followers on Instagram a flyer labelled “Wah Wi Want”, which highlights the rights and need to protect public access to Jamaican beaches. In the caption, he’s encouraging visitors to the island to join the cause and help the Jamaican people regain public access to our beaches as we did before.
Ziggy also stated, in part, that “Jamaica is one of the only islands in the Caribbean that does not guarantee its people GENERAL rights of access to its beaches.”
The awareness to protect public access to Jamaican Beaches was first started by IRIE FM under the stewardship of Kabu Maat Kheru through the Africa Forum.
