Last night’s staging of the 2nd annual Caribbean Music Awards hosted by Spice and comedian Majah Hype in Flat Bush New York was a big win for Jamaican music.
Among the winners were, Queen of the Dancehall, Spice who walked away with the award for Artiste of the Decade, Dexta Daps was awarded Performer of the Year, Teejay won the award for Video of the Year in the dancehall category for Drift, while dancehall hitmaker, Masicka emerged winner in the Album of the Year category for his project Generation of Kings.
Cedella Marley and Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor were also among the honourees at the awards ceremony; Cedella Marley was celebrated with the Legacy Award while Di Genius received the Producer’s Honour Award.
First held in 2023, the Caribbean Music Awards is a platform seeking to recognize, honour and celebrate Caribbean talent who have made significant contributions to the enhancement of the music and development of the rich and diverse Caribbean culture.
