The Jamaica Culture Development Commission FiWi Short Film Awards Ceremony will be held later today in Kingston.
The event will unveil a winner from the seventeen participants shortlisted out of a total of forty-seven entries in the amateur short film competition.
Launched earlier this year the competition is the brainchild of the JCDC’s Drama and Theatre Arts Unit and centres on entrants examining one of five selected Jamaican Proverbs and creating a short film based on their interpretation. The short films were available online on JCDC’s YouTube Channel for public viewing, however, scheduled public screenings for the films were cancelled twice, due to unfavourable weather conditions.
The award ceremony will take place from the Roof of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport on 4-6 Trafalgar Road in Kingston at 6pm and will see the winner being awarded 350,000 JMD and a trophy.
