Economist Keenan Falconer has described Finance Minister Fayval Williams’ budget presentation yesterday as generally sober and measured.

Mrs. Williams opened the 2026/27 debate in the House of Representatives at Gordon House, outlining the Government’s plans to support the financial sector and grow the economy.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, Mr. Falconer says the Minister’s presentation reflected the fiscal realities and pressures being faced by the country, given the extent of the fiscal deficits Jamaica is projected to experience.

However, he notes that the Government appears to be preoccupied with implementing measures that were previously announced.

Meanwhile, he lauded the Finance Minister for appropriately outlining the geopolitical realities faced by the nation.
