Lt Stitchie is alive and well! That’s the word out of his camp following the circulation of news that the legendary entertainer had died.

Earlier today, social media went into a frenzy after news surfaced on several platforms claiming the DJ had died. Stichie’s wife Sophia Laing told Music News that he is still hospitalised however he is now responding with his eyes.

Earlier this month a GoFundMe campaign was launched to raise funds for the reggae and dancehall icon. The campaign organized by Sophia, in a synopsis noted that the Stitchie recently suffered a severe brain haemorrhage that left him unresponsive.

The statement further revealed that he needed help in a long-term care facility where he would be provided with rehabilitation care. The campaign appealed for support by way of donations to cover transfer, medical care and living expenses in the home.


The GoFundMe at news time had reached sixteen thousand and nine hundred and ninety-five thousand USD out of a one hundred thousand USD target.


Stitchie, who left dancehall for the church in 1997 is described as the Lexicon of reggae and dancehall music, he is credited as a gifted lyrical genius, with a superb and fast-talking unique style. In a 2019 interview, he shared that in one calendar year he had fourteen number one songs. His matchless storytelling abilities, combined with his powerful vocal delivery makes his songs like Wear Yuh Size, Shopping, Natty Dread, Great Ambition and countless others, classical hits, still relatable in this era.
