Reggae artiste, Mortimer, says he is grateful to the Recording Academy for the love he’s receiving. This after being listed among several other Jamaican artistes influencing contemporary Reggae in an article published by the academy.
In an Instagram post, Mortimer wrote, in part, “Thank you Recording Academy for the love “…super appreciated, love to my beautiful team as well, special love to all the artistes on this list…music keeps the heart beating and the soul breathing.”
In honour of Caribbean American Heritage Month, the Recording Academy, widely known for its Grammy Awards, published an article on June 19, listing ten Jamaican artistes whom they say are shaping contemporary Reggae today.
The list includes, Romain Virgo, Kumar Bent, Lila Ike, Hezron, Iotosh, Samory I, Hempress Sativa, Hector “Roots” Lewis and Tarrus Riley.
