In a move to catapult Jamaica’s rich cultural heritage onto the global stage, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced plans to invest in and monetize the country’s cultural brand.

The initiative he said aims to ensure Jamaica reaps the full benefits of its world-renowned creatives and their economic potential.

PM Holness emphasized that Jamaica’s creatives have gained international recognition, but the country has yet to fully capitalize on its creative talent.

To address this, he said the government has launched the Jamaica Screen Development Initiative, a 1 billion fund dedicated to supporting the development of the film industry.

This investment is poised to elevate Jamaica’s creative industry. By doing so, the government hopes to create a thriving cultural economy that benefits the nation.

With this new initiative, Jamaica is set to become a hub for creative excellence, showcasing its unique cultural identity to the world.
